Montgomery, AL — Business and Enterprise Systems Product Innovation (BESPIN) has awarded four groundbreaking contracts in support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology (OPHSDT). These efforts will play a pivotal role in modernizing the national public health data infrastructure, improving disease reporting capabilities, and accelerating the nation’s response to public health crises.

“These contracts are a testament to BESPIN’s leadership in public health innovation,” said Lt. Col. Tyler Hough, BESPIN Chief Executive Officer. “We’re proud to partner with the CDC to ensure our national health systems are more connected, responsive, and effective in safeguarding the public.”

One effort to transforming Public Health Data: SimpleReport and Data Integration Building Blocks (DIBBs) Enhancement

  • SimpleReport: A powerful web-based platform designed to streamline rapid testing for under-resourced State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) partners across the nation.
  • DIBBs: A state-of-the-art cloud-based pipeline, transforming how public health data is processed, standardized, and integrated with SLTT systems.

By leveraging human-centered design and agile development, BESPIN will drive key improvements in CDC systems and processes, empowering faster and more accurate decision-making across the public health ecosystem.

Another significant contract, Automated Solutions for Data Reconciliation, will revolutionize the way case counts are reconciled between the CDC and state-level jurisdictions. BESPIN will facilitate the development of automated tools to eliminate manual processes and reduce data discrepancies, ensuring real-time accuracy in disease surveillance.

BESPIN is also spearheading the modernization of legacy data systems with the Data Port Project. This project will support around 25 state and local public health departments in migrating their data to the CDC’s latest standards, streamlining workflows, and boosting the efficiency of the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NBS).

Lastly, BESPIN will deploy specialized teams of digital experts to assist CDC and its SLTT partners in adopting new data models and enhancing system onboarding processes by supporting the CDC via their Minimum Data Necessary (MDN) initiative.

Together, these projects represent a sweeping overhaul of America’s public health infrastructure, fortifying the CDC’s ability to manage future health crises with agility and precision. BESPIN’s work will not only enhance data accuracy and timeliness but will also lay the foundation for a more resilient public health system.

BESPIN is a software solution center chartered to build the USAF Mobile Center of Excellence and scale cloud and mobile application development across the Air Force and Department of Defense.
